Home > WWTP - Sludge Treatment

Sludge has become a central issue worldwide. The requirements on sludge quality are increasing, disposal is becoming a serious problem, spreading on agricultural land is being limited. We offer a complete concept for sewage sludge disposal, in addition to several types of sludge treatment plants, to achieve improved dewatering results.

Our branch of equipments include:

 Thickeners

Dilute sludges, with a typical solids concentration of 0.3% - 1.0%, can be thickened to achieve a dry solids content in the range of 3% - 10%. This process reduces the volume for disposal or further treatment by factor of 5 - 15. The product consistency resulting from the thickening process is still semi-fluid and usually requires additional treatment.

Our equipments are:

  • Static thickeners: Central driven scrappers for circular static thickeners. Made in carbon steel protected with epoxy protection or stainless steel. Our design is made for heavy duty works for different types of sludges.

  • Rotary thickeners: Mechanical rotating sludge thickener, capable to thicken the sludge up to a concentration of 10-12%. The construction is entirely in stainless steel. The sludge is delivered to the external mixer to be conditioned with chemicals and then discharged inside the thickening drum. The drum consists of 4 zones separated by means of adjustable rings to regulate the retention time according to the sludge characteristics.

 Dewatering

Thicker sludge with a typical solids concentration of 1% - 5% can be dewatered to achieve a dry solids content in the range of 18% - 40%. The product from a well designed dewatering process is usually in a solid form that can be easily handled and transported.

Our equipments are:

  • Rotary dewatering machines: Maximum efficiency for flows up to 20 m3/hr. In the sludge press the pre-dewatered sludge is continuously dewatered by the increase in pressure. By continuous circulation of the sludge high filtrate resistance is avoided and thus a higher dewatering capacity can be achieved at small pressure. The return of a partial filtrate flow guarantees an optimum quality of the filtrate.

  • Belt filters: For higher flow applications. Belt press filter with a completely new design to get the highest performances ever reached by a belt press filter. It is achieved by increasing the working filtration area and the high efficiency of the low pressure system.

  • Centrifuges: the maximum separation efficiency to prevent a high sludge return load. They are preferably designed for high-performance dewatering of municipal sewage sludge but are also suitable for industrial applications

Compactors

The screenings to be treated are discharged directly from a screen or conveyor (e.g.screw conveyor) into the feed trough of the Wash Press. A robust conveying and compacting screw transports the screenings into the wash zone where they are exposed to directed and powerful turbulence created by automatic introduction of wash water (used water). The turbulence achieves perfect separation of organic particles and thus effective screenings washing. The washing intensity and cycles further conveyed in the rising pipe to the press zone where they are pressed and dewatered by the compacting screw to a DS content of 35 -45 %. The wash water from screenings compaction which is rich in carbon is discharged back into the waste water stream. Automatic cleaning of the wash water collecting tank under the machine is possible. The washed and compacted screenings are finally transported through the conical discharge pipe into a skip.
